Description
Let me tell you a story.
Ten years ago, I was a 13 year old girl when the first Lord of the Rings movie came out. Like all the other girls, I fell for Legolas, (but make no mistake, Eomer is my man now) but moreso, I fell in love with the Elvish culture. Everything Tolkien I devoured. I could even speak Elvish at one point, no joke. However, It was Arwen and Galadriel that made me think long hair was beautiful. What I also found beautiful... were their dresses. I started sewing. I made a dress for the Renaissance Festival. It was okay, but I dreamt of having one with giant sleeves and expensive materials...
Now, ten years later, I am 23 and I have years of experience gained from cosplay. Hidden deep within my closet was a few yards of expensive green silk. I've saved it all these years because I never had the skill to do it justice. The Hobbit premiere sparked my desire again. I was sad to find that the fabric was cool color. My red head skin tone is warm, so I don't look good in cool colors. To my rescue came a friend who suggested to break the colors up by lining them with a warm color, so the cool would never be close to my skin. I found this gorgeous cream velvet and brocade. They did the trick.
I wore my dress to the premiere. This one is based off of Arwen's "Requiem Dress." I just changed the colors from blue to green. Although, I must admit, this is not completed. The underdress is not finished and I still have lots of work to do with the beading. But it was wearable.
